| The NiteSong
Horse Ranch does not condone nor practice the act of soring
or any other un-natural method of training any horse. We believe
the true beauty of the Tennessee Walker and Spotted Saddle Horse
comes from their NATURAL Gate. Learn
more about soring and why it should be eliminated here,

John and Elaine Hoffpauir
welcome you to the historic rolling hills and grasslands of
NiteSong Horse Ranch in Gonzales, Texas, where the first shots
of the Texas Revolution were fired on October 2, 1835. NiteSong
is a small family-owned horse ranch of about 100 acres with
some of the finest naturally
gaited Tennessee Walkers and Spotted Saddle horses for sale.
While this breed is sometimes considered new to residents of
the Lone Star State, it's well known throughout the South as
the Cadillac of horses. With their smooth natural gait and gentle
dispostion, Tennesse
Walking Horses and Spotted
Saddle Horse make some of the finest trail and pleasure
horses you can find. Elaine and I decided to fulfill a life-long
dream of breeding, training and selling Tennessee Walkers and
Spotted Saddle Horses to people of the horse community, who
wanted comfort in a horse of unequalled stamina and beauty.
Remember as you browse our site
that ALMOST every horse you see is for sale even if it is
not listed on our For
Sale page. If you see one you
are interested in please don't hesitate to ask us for more
information.

About the Tennessee Walker
Horse
The Tennessee Walker, otherwise
known as the Tennessee Walking Horse, Garrett Walker Horse,
and other variations upon these themes, is a singularly tractable
and comfortable natural gait. The breed was originally bred
to carry the owners of plantations around their lands. Their
natural unique four-beat "running walk" is a gait
unique to the breed and is especially comfortable to ride, making
the breed a well-suited trail companion. The breed is rarely
seen in any of the sport horse disciplines; however, they are
excellent trail horses good for long-distance riding because
of their stamina and easy temper, and are also seen in Western
pleasure and under harness.

Each horse is a part
of our family and both Elaine and our daughter, Theresa, work
with them daily. While growing up and visiting her grandfathers
cattle ranch in Oklahoma, Elaine developed a deep lifelong love
for horses. She remembers asking Santa Claus every Christmas
as a child for a horse of her very own. At NiteSong, she has
the delight of seeing many horses running thru the pastures.
I'm from rodeo stock - my dad was a professional pickup man
after retiring from bull riding and saddle bronc riding after
he and mother married. Now working in the auto business, I sell
machines that rope the power of 300 horses......Johnny Hoffpaiur

LAST
week's article - Horse Training 3 : What Rearing
Really Is
by: Andy Curry
Have you ever tried to get your horse to go somewhere
(like through a door or in a trailer) and he rears as
he approaches? In this case, the rearing is a symptom
of a problem. The horse is showing resistance and fear
- plus a lack of respect for the handler's direction.
To solve this, you must do groundwork away from the spooky
object. You'll want to do exercises that will get him
to expand his comfort level AND get his feet moving forward.

| Our dream began as a result of seeing
a picture of Shania Twain's Spotted Saddlehorse stallion. I
remember thinking what a magnificent animal..... it wasn't long
before I purchased a Spotted Saddle Horse mare and two SSH (Spotted
Saddle Horse) geldings - Patty, Sandman and Knievel. Below are
pictures of Patty and Knievel. |

Remember when I said ALMOST every horse you
will see here is for sale? This is Patty, a Spotted Saddle Horse.
She is Elaine's personal horse and one of our first. Patty is
the reason I said ALMOST. |

Knievel is a very nice painted gelding with
a beautiful natural gait. He is both Tennessee Walker and Spotted
Saddle horse. He is very people friendly and loves to be handled,
brushed, bathed , and pampered. Very old foundation bloodlines
out of Midnight Sun and Evil Knievel.

About the Spotted Saddle Horse
Spotted horses have
been popular with horseman since time immemorial. Prehistoric
man scratched their likeness on the walls of caves and
the American Indians, considered to be some of the world's
greatest horsemen, selected spotted ponies as their war
mounts. The Spotted Saddle Horse can trace its roots back
to the history of horses that escaped from ships as they
crashed on our shorelines. These horses were often spotted,
naturally gaited, and possessed the strength and stamina
necessary for war use. At the end of the Civil War, many
imported "gaited" types of horses were left
in the newly formed United States. Selective mating of
these gaited horses resulted in the production of a smooth
gaited, colorful horse that came to be known as the Spotted
Saddle Horse. This horse performs a smooth, easy gait
that is a true pleasure to ride.
